ABOUT US

Collaboration. Connection. Belonging.

Current RISC members have a wide range of roles and activities at the RRI/CCF. The seed for this student collaborative stemmed from Jen Smith’s excitement to see many SSW Practice and Leadership in Community Organizations (PLCO) colleagues around the RRI when she started her internship placement. Jen quickly noticed that beyond casual chance meetings in the halls, there appeared to be no official process or place for student workers to engage with each other.  By reaching out to her fellow student workers, Jen planted the seed for RISC members to establish a group for student workers to gather and share experiences, find support amongst peers and discover possible new collaborations.

The sense of peer support and meaningful collaboration from fall quarter inspired RISC to engage the Reserach Institutes' community in assessing how the culture could be strengthened to better support students' experiences, and the research being done.  A survey was created to gather perspectives from both staff and students.  It is RISC's desire this information will inform the process of moving toward a more socially just organization for all.
